ANNOUNCEMENTS AND CELEBRATIONS

PRELUDE:                  Bringing in the Light of Christ

CALL TO WORSHIP
P:  We would see Jesus on the mountain teaching, with his disciples listening, gathered round, while birds and flowers and sky above are preaching the blessedness which simple trust has found.
L:  So, open our eyes and our ears and all our senses, and shine in our hearts
P:  that we may know your Word and your righteousness and follow where you lead. Amen.

*OPENING HYMN:              “The Church’s One Foundation”                          UMH#546

OPENING PRAYER (in unison)
Lord, forgive me for being 'others focused', for gossiping about others, for seeing others as pieces on a chessboard to be positioned for my comfort, for judging others too harshly, for becoming jealous or insecure when I see others being blessed in a way that I am not, for seeing others as threats. Lord help me to be 'others focused'. Help me to put the needs of others before my own. Help me to let others off the hook. Help me to see others the way you do: washed and made whole. Help me to see the truth about others. Amen.

Responsive Reading:                     Psalm 119:1-8                                             UMH#840

OFFERTORY                                       “Give Thanks”                                         TFWS#2036

Offering Prayer (in unison)
God of all creation, the offering we bring to your altar this day is the fruit of our labors; and we want to bring you the best we have. No harvest comes

from us alone but starts in your goodness; and many have contributed to every good gift we bring. Working together in your fields, generous God, we pray that our gifts might be used to bless others who hunger for connection with you. We pray in the name of Christ, our savior and redeemer. Amen. (1 Corinthians 3:1-9)
