Church Restoration Project

In order to render the furnace more efficient, we re-installed the ductwork which was re-moved with the original restoration.
The old floor joists have been removed.
This picture shows the old septic tank which was under the former bathroom. The remains of an old toilet seat can be seen in the upper left.
Straight ahead is the door to the supply closet which apparently once housed a second bathroom.
This is a partial picture of the huge stone ledge that was behind the kitchen sink and cupboards and shows part of the reason for the water infiltration.
The inner walls of the old bathroom and a piece of the dining room wall have been removed in order to accommodate a larger space for the handicapped accessible bathroom.
The plumbing for the handicapped bathroom was installed in preparation for the pouring of the concrete slab.

The floor has been prepped for pouring the slab. The yellow squares are the vapor barrier with insulation and rebars across the top for stabilization.
The inside has been prepped for the final pouring of the concrete slab. This is the area where the handicapped bathroom will be installed.

Eric and Walter complete the pouring of the slab. We now have a floor in the basement once again.
The new handicapped bathroom has been framed. We now need to chose flooring and will proceed as funds are available.

On Monday of week 2, a large hunk of the granite foundation was removed and cement footings were installed.

We now have a small closet, as well.
New plumbing work has been completed this week.
Our new bathroom is now complete!

When the hot top ramp was removed in front of the main door into the church, this concrete block, probably part of the original concrete steps was discovered - 12 feet long and 4 feet wide!!
The huge stone has been removed and the front foundation has also now been completed.
Work on the foundation on the East side still needs to be completed.
The West side of the church foundation has been completed and filled in.
